BEFORE I FORGOT MYSELF

May 6 – July 18, 2022

by appointment ONLY

A celebrated artist whose work spans sculpture, drawing, video, photography, dance, and performance, McNamara’s practice is embedded with wit and a strong historical consciousness. For "Before I Forgot Myself," the artist brings together a collection of his physical and video works from the past fifteen years. He describes the exhibition as a “hybrid between a retrospective and a garage sale.” McNamara will be on hand throughout the show’s run to answer questions and make deals with some savvy shoppers. An essay about the exhibition by Sarah Nicole Prickett is forthcoming.

Ryan Ponder McNamara lives and works in Brooklyn. His work has been featured at MoMA PS1, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Guggenheim New York, Kunstmuseum Bonn, The Kitchen, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, White Columns, Museum of Modern Art, ICA Boston, Perez Art Museum Miami, ICI London, The Garage Moscow, The Power Plant Toronto, the Athens Biennale and The High Line New York. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
